First Call for applicants (2009)
The project "InfraStructure for the European Network for Earth System Modelling (IS-ENES)" has been recently funded by the EU for 4 years (Grant Agreement no 228203, http://is-enes.enes.org). Within IS-ENES, work package 4 "Strengthening the European Network on Earth System Modeling" proposes to provide personal technical help to implement new coupled models or improve existing configurations based on the OASIS coupler.
The support can be provided for the following technical tasks:
- Interfacing new models with OASIS3/OASIS4
- Coupling interface update (OASIS2-OASIS3-OASIS4)
- Interpolation/transformation choices
- Pseudo-parallel (field-per-field basis) coupling with OASIS3
- High Resolution coupled model optimization (operational configurations, including eddy resolving global ocean ...)
- MPP coupled configuration tuning (with up to 100 processors, load balancing, OASIS/models synchronization ... )
- Regional and global configuration coupling (including NEMO AGRIF ...)
- Coupling with NEMO ocean component and adaptation of new NEMO3 coupling interface
- Use of OASIS3 as a stand-alone interpolator for climate simulation pre and post-processing.
This service excludes the scientific development, tuning, analysis and evaluation of the coupled model components themselves and of the coupled model as a whole.
Provided by CERFACS, this support is primarily available to any climate research laboratory in Europe. A report on the improvements realised withthis dedicated user support will have to be produced by the modelling groups.

Calls for applicants will be open in April-May each year of the project 4 years. A total of 3 persons.months will be available each year. The institutions selected to be supported will be notified by June 30 each year.
